Job Shadow Report
For my first job shadow I shadowed a friend’s mom Amber at their family business in Belle Plaine the shop is called Metal Forming. At this fabrication shop they do everything from building parts for airplanes that then go off to Boeing and Cessna to making the discs for tractor implements. At my time at the fab shop I helped run a metal press to make a wing for a small plane. The person I followed was very helpful at showing me all the career paths that follow after having the entry level job. You would need a certification in welding and in fabrication to work this job. I expected to and did learn to run a press while also knowing how to fix it if it goes of track. I chose this job to dip my toes into the metal working career field I've always had some interest in this path.
On my second job shadow I took things in a complete opposite direction and went to a hair salon. I shadowed a lady named Jessie in Wellington for this next one. She had me helping mix color for a hair coloring then sweeping up hair that had been cut. The most important thing that she showed me was how to charge people based upon what was done to them. you would need to go to cosmetology school in various different places for up to four years. She was pretty helpful in showing me where I could get a job and go to school. the last task I performed for her was a little bit of simple building dress up by raking up leaves and laying mulch.

Career Report
I have been contemplating going to school to become an engineer in the United States Air Force. I have been contemplating this career choice for some time. I have always been interested in a career in the military and could never decide what branch I would like to enlist in. Now, I have decided that I would be best in the Air Force serving as a tactical aircraft maintenance engineer. To be able to get this position I would need the following: Knowledge of principles that apply to aircraft systems; Color vision; Completion of a current national agency check and local agency check and credit, completion of 7.5 weeks of basic military training as well as airman's week; and must be between the ages of 17-39. For this career choice I will have to finish high school and get my hands on a diploma. Class in physics, hydraulics and electronics will need to be taken. After that, I will have to take all kinds of airmen classes and training courses on how aircraft operate and how they are maintained.. In all, I will have to take a little over a year for secondary Air Force training and then I can go out and perform the job. Base salary for this career choice is between $55,000 to $70,000 or about 25.00 an hour which isn't too bad. After basic training and additional training, it will be a regular nine to five job that I can go in and do my thing then leave when it’s time.
There is a military base in Kansas. McConnell Air Force Base has a maintenance wing with everything that I will need for the job. It is located in Wichita, which is not far from my hometown so I can drive to and from home. I could room up with a friend of mine that lives downtown in Wichita and split rent and payments but at the same time enjoy it and have a good time.

Reflective Essay
Well, I finally made it to my last year of high school and oh boy am I nervous. There are so many things that I could write about in this essay but I think that what a better subject to write about than my future career plans and how I have grown to want to pursue this path.
I would like to say that most of the choices some good some bad have made me into the respectable person that I am becoming day by day. I made the choice to make a very big change in my life that would turn out to be one of the best choices I have ever made, switching schools going from Wellington to Caldwell High School. I have the greatest friends anyone could ask for and I can't even begin to show the appreciation for all the teachers that have stood right next to me through thick and thin no matter what never giving up on me.
The last couple of months from time to time I will think pretty hard about what I will do after I graduate. So one day I decided to talk to my dad and what he answered back with I could have guessed, “Boy, you can do whatever you set your mind to”. He has been saying that to me since I was little so we talked for an hour or two and both came to an agreement on what my future plans are. We are going to talk to a U.S Navy recruiter the day I turn eighteen, I’ve always dreamt about being a part of something bigger than me and I think now is my chance to chase down that dream and make it a reality.
